It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don "Donnie" Reyes on May 31, 2023. Born on January 11, 1945, Don was a kind and generous man who brought laughter and joy to those who knew him through his wit and fun-loving nature. A true friend, mentor, and teacher, Don was a beacon of courage and strength, touching the lives of many in a meaningful way.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Reyes, his daughters, Ember (Reyes) Cass and Candice Reyes, and his son, James Reyes. The love and devotion he had for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and it was through them that he found his greatest accomplishment as a father.
Throughout his life, Don was a committed and passionate educator, dedicating over forty years to teaching and coaching. His impact on the lives of his students, both in and out of the classroom, was immeasurable and will be remembered for generations. Among his many achievements, Don was proud to have been a member of the 1971 National Championship Football Team at CLC. Additionally, he demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his country by serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Don was a man who lived by strong principles, and he shared valuable life lessons to those around him. He firmly believed in seeing things through, maintaining that one's word was as good as their bond, and that perseverance and a commitment to a healthy mind and body were essential. His legacy of friendship, generosity, athleticism, and coaching will be cherished by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched over the years.
Donnie Reyes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory and his teachings will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind as they honor his remarkable life and enduring spirit. |
