William Edward Harrison was born in Los Angeles, California. The son of Edward and Annetta Harrison, Bill was a Boy Scout for many years and always very active in his church youth groups and a member of the choir. Heloved going camping and fishing with his mom, dad and sister, Doanna. Bill had a passion for science and nature and would enhance their family travels with his knowledge of interesting facts about rock formations or plant life along the way. He enjoyed working several summers at Sequoia National Park. Bill also loved sports.
He played football at James Monroe High School and was so proud to have played at California Lutheran where he was a member of the first football team and a member of the first graduating class of 1964; this love of football carried over into his work as a teacher at Laurel Hall School in North Hollywood, California and his coaching for 39 years eventually led to the community naming the sports field at Laurel, Harrison Field, as a tribute to him.
That same year, 1964, Bill met Carol Carso. They enjoyed bowling together on the church bowling league. They fell in love and were married July 31, 1965 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
It was in September of 1964 that Bill began teaching at Laurel Hall School. He loved Laurel Hall and treasured the many friendships he made with students, parents and colleagues over the years. Bill became a wonderful dad to Carol's three children, Joe, Pat and Jana. He especially enjoyed the fact that they were also students at Laurel Hall where he could be their teacher and coach the boys in football and other sports.
Bill eventually became a Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He called his sons often and daughter Jana every day. He was known for his generosity that touched the lives of so many. Bill passed away from Diabetes in early 2010 at the age of 57.
